On 1 July 2019, the Tasmanian Government launched Safe Home, Families, Communities: Tasmania’s action plan for family and sexual violence 2019-22. The plan has an increased focus on primary prevention and includes an exciting new partnership with Our Watch, the national organisation that is leading Australia’s work to prevent violence against women and their children and promote gender equality.

The State Government partnership funding has enabled the organisation to employ Trish Males as the first Our Watch Senior Advisor Tasmania. The partnership will work statewide with government agencies, non-government organisations, the private sector and the broader Tasmanian community to build and improve the capacity and skills for primary prevention across the state, and to pursue new opportunities for prevention work.

Trish in her role will also support the Tasmanian Government’s emerging work on primary prevention and the implementation of actions from Safe Home, Families, Communities.
